Profiles
A profile is a complete, separate book: its own database file, accounts, transactions, holdings, budgets, and FX rates. Chord supports up to three.
Each profile carries a name, an avatar (a symbol and colour, or an uploaded image), and a default reporting currency (CAD or USD), stored per profile. The default currency is the currency for net worth, allocation, and reports; individual accounts keep their own currency regardless.
Create or edit a profile
Open the profile switcher from the bottom-left of the sidebar, or use ⌘K and type New Profile. You can edit an existing profile's name, avatar, and default currency at any time. A profile's default currency can also be set in Settings ▸ General, which always applies to the profile you're in.
Switch profiles
- Use the switcher in the bottom-left of the sidebar.
- Or open ⌘K and type the profile's name.
Switching reloads the whole window against that profile's database. You can't delete your last remaining profile.
Appearance
Chord ships three skins, chosen in Settings ▸ Appearance:
- Terminal — the default: green on a green-tinted near-black, with mono labels. Matches this site.
- Classic — the earlier indigo, Linear-flavoured look.
- Ember — warm red on charcoal.
Alongside the skin, set the mode to Light, Dark, or System. Press ⇧⌘D anywhere to toggle light and dark quickly.
